Charter terms

What these terms cover

These terms apply to day charters aboard SolarCove vessels departing from Palamós. They are completed by the written confirmation you receive for your booking, which prevails if the two ever differ.

Booking and confirmation

An enquiry is not a booking. A date is held only once we have confirmed it in writing and received [deposit: amount or percentage]. The balance falls due [when the balance is due].

Payment is accepted by [accepted payment methods]. Prices are quoted in euros and include [VAT treatment].

What is included

  • Exclusive use of the vessel for the agreed period. We never place a second party aboard on the same day.
  • A licensed skipper. Every SolarCove day is skippered; the vessel is not offered bareboat.
  • Solar-electric cruising, with no fuel surcharge.
  • Snorkelling equipment, paddleboards, towels, ice, water and soft drinks.

Catering, wine, additional crew and any bespoke arrangement are quoted separately and confirmed in writing before departure.

Guests aboard

The number of guests may not exceed the vessel's day-charter certification, and the skipper may refuse boarding beyond it. Children are welcome; those under [age] must wear a lifejacket on deck at all times and stay under the supervision of an accompanying adult.

Pets: [pet policy].

The skipper's authority

The skipper commands the vessel and answers for the safety of everyone aboard. Their decisions on route, anchorage, swimming, timing and turning back are final, and may change during the day. Guests must follow their instructions.

The skipper may end a charter early, without refund, in the case of behaviour that endangers the vessel or the people on it, including intoxication that compromises safety.

Weather

The skipper decides on the morning of departure. If the day cannot be sailed safely or pleasantly, we move it to another date of your choosing or refund it in full, as you prefer. We do not sail a poor day at sea.

Where a charter is cut short after departure for reasons of weather or safety, we refund pro rata for the time not sailed, subject to a minimum of [minimum time treated as sailed].

If you cancel

Cancellations must reach us in writing. [cancellation windows and the amount retained at each].

Postponement is normally possible at no cost when requested at least [notice period] before departure, subject to availability.

Food, allergies and dietary needs

Tell us about allergies and dietary requirements when you book, and again if they change. Aboard a vessel where meals are prepared, we cannot guarantee an environment entirely free of any given allergen.

Insurance and liability

The vessel carries the third-party and passenger insurance required by Spanish law, held with [insurer and policy number].

We answer for damage caused by our own fault or negligence. We do not answer for personal belongings brought aboard, for loss caused by inaccurate information you give us, or for events outside our reasonable control. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Guests are responsible for damage they cause to the vessel or its equipment through misuse. [security deposit, if any].

Photography

We photograph aboard for our own use only with the agreement of everyone present, asked on the day. You are free to say no, and it changes nothing about the day.

Complaints

Tell the skipper on the day if something is wrong, so that it can be put right while it still matters. Anything unresolved should go to hello@solarcove.co, and we answer within [response time].

Official complaint forms are available aboard and at our base, as required of tourism operators in Catalonia.

Applicable law

These terms are governed by Spanish law. Disputes fall to the courts of [competent jurisdiction], save where a mandatory rule of consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
